Step 1
Download third-party drivers for your model of the network adapter from the Internet.

Log in to the administrator account in Windows XP and click the "Start" button located in the left lower corner of your screen.

Click "Control Panel" and switch to the "Category" view on the left panel.

Click "System" to open the "System properties" window.
Step 5
Select the "Hardware" tab and click on "Device Manager."
Step 6
Scroll down the hardware list and click on the "+" sign next to "Network Adapters"
to expand this entry. Right click on your modem name and choose "Uninstall" to delete current network drivers. Click "OK" to confirm. Click "OK" again to restart your computer.
Step 7
Log in again to the administrator account and open Windows Explorer.
Step 8
Browse to the driver file (Step 1) using Windows Explorer and double click on it to start the installation of the third-party network adapter drivers. Restart the computer when prompted.
