Default 257.21 problem, win7 64
Hey

I'm pretty much new to computers this kind of way so please bare with me!

I downloaded the newest nvidia 257.21 driver for my comp but I'm having errors while playing games and watching videos on youtube etc.
It goes into lag and just makes a weird noise like its stuck (dont know error is called, it just makes a weird noise that really loud) and lags out so I eventually have to reboot. And sometimes when I reboot I only get to the screen saying "Welcome" then it stops. The computer is relatively new and has had problems since I first started downloading my first driver to it. When I used those drivers (197.45 I think it's called) it went blackscreen and bluescreen so I had to change back to the oldest driver I could find which was 186.34.

Comp specs

Mainboard : FUJITSU D2950-A1
Chipset : nVidia GeForce 7100
Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2500 MHz
Physical Memory : 4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GT 220

I really want this to work, my fans isn't going crazy or anything, I have no idea what the heck is going on!

Thanks

Did you only start having problems after installing new drivers?

Yeah, it started when I got my first driver from the nvidia website, I do know they've been screwing up bigtime with their new policy and drivers and all but I hope there is a way to fix this.

That's tough. Hard to say what the problem is but I would be trying to restore all the drivers to original state before the problems started.

Is this the driver you tried on the NVidea site
NVIDIA DRIVERS 257.21 WHQL

Yeah that's the one.

The screen goes green when watching videos, interrupting kind of and when playing games it simply just laggs out and get this sound (can't really explain how it does sound but you've probably encountered it before)

I would like to try this resetting the drivers but I actually don't know how (I'm a newbie yeah)

Do you have disks that come with the PC? Sometimes you can just reinstall Windows without losing any files like your documents, pictures etc.

You have to be careful though as sometimes the disks that come with the PC also reformat wiping everything on your machine to restore it back to it's original state. In my experience the reformat disks are the original manufacter ones like Dell, Toshiba etc and usually common with laptops but if you just have the Windows install disk that should work ok.

In some cases your PC might have come with a driver disk as well which can reinstall the original drivers.
