Step 1

Browse to the Dell Drivers and Downloads website using the link in the "Resources" section of this article. Enter the service tag for your computer if you have it. Otherwise, click "Select Model."

Click the category of your computer (desktop or laptop), then click the product line. Finally, click the model number. The list of available downloads for your Dell computer appears.

Step 3

Select your operating system from the top drop-down menu, and select "Audio" from the second drop-down menu.

Step 4

Click "Download" next to the appropriate driver for your hardware. For example, some Dell laptops may have Creative Labs drivers or Sigmatel drivers available.

Step 5

Click "Download" under "Download via your Internet Browser." The file begins downloading.

Step 6

Double-click the downloaded file to begin installation. Click "Run" if Windows displays a security warning.

Step 7

Click "Continue" after the application launches, then click "OK" and "Yes."

Step 8

Click "OK" after the files are done extracting, then click "Next" through the prompts. The installation software updates the configuration of the computer automatically.

Step 9

Click the radio button labeled "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click "Finish." The audio drivers are active after the computer restarts.
