Default SD slot not recognized/driver trouble
I recently got an Acer Aspire 3680-2633 for Christmas. It came installed with Vista but with such low specs it was painfully slow even when doing the simplest tasks. I did a fresh Windows XP Pro SP3 install, which went through fine. The only problem was that after it was installed I had zero drivers. I then had to download all the drivers on a seperate computer, put them on a flash driver and then install them onto my laptop. Time consuming but still, it had to be done. I have successfully installed every driver that I was missing. Meaning, I got rid of all the Yellow question marks in Device Manager.
The only driver that has been giving me trouble is the Card Reader driver for the built in SD card reader on the laptop. Upon installing the driver (Card Reader 2.0.0.2 or under PCMCIA in Device Manager "texas instruments pcixx12 integrated flashmedia controller") for some reason the "Found New Hardware" wizard pops up and asks me where it should look to install the software for the New Hardware? And everytime I reboot the wizard appears again. Oh, also the SD slot doesn't work, nor does it show up under My Computer as an empty drive. When I insert an SD card into the slot absolutely nothing happens. I've even tried reinstalling the driver numerous times from different sources but they all have had the same result. I'm at a loss as to what to do, I've been Google-ing for about 3 days straight for a solution but I haven't found any. PLEASE HELP?!?!?!?!
